To let everyone know the direction of this blog and what to expect from it, I thought a kind of mission statement for the blog, and the primary web page, should be included. Here is what I came up with...
Start over 1000 organic gardens in Australian backyards with simple proven methods and low cost alternatives to growing. Help others successfully grow more vegetables, herbs and fruit in less space.
There are other things I hope to achieve with this site also: -
- Help people to implement smart permaculture design.
- More people living somewhat self sufficiently through growing and creating
- Keep everyone informed on the numerous events and courses so they can learn more
- Hopefully get more families in Australia being proactive with lifestyle change
- Get this site packed with practical growing tips
- Give you all the resources and information you need
- Get people in touch with organizations, farmers markets and each other right around Australia
And there is even more I hope to achieve. Obviously there needs to be more creating from my end than in the last 5 weeks-sorry about the lack of posts. I will aim to add 3 entries every week from now on (at least), so there will be plenty of new material. I will also try to improve page layout and more pictures and links for you. At the same time though, its important to remember that the problem can be too much for many people. Just getting the basil to survive on the kitchen window is an important first stage for some. Once that is going, grow 5 herbs, then a garden, then a garden system that feeds your family. You can do this in less space than you think and many people are catching onto this.
Please post any questions in the comments section below. If you have already been using my ebook to start your garden, be sure to let me know so I can start the count to 1000 gardens. Its a huge number, but I know there is already a few hundred people out there. Why not be the first to let me know - i will be sure to mention you in an upcoming post! I will even start a list of names of "free organic gardener's" if people want to see they have been added and where they sit on the list.
The ebook at www.freeorganicgarden.com is about to be updated again. This will be the third edition and should be ready by the end of August. Once this is done we will look at publishing and distributing for all of you who have been asking.
Be sure to visit again soon, I will do some updates on winter in the garden, a huge reading list, courses,
balcony gardening, sprouts, website links and more. Some really good info in the next few weeks.
3 posts a week and 1000 new organic backyard gardens - thats what this site is all about!
